What is new?

http://smarttech.com/trainingcenter/material.asp Free on-line self-paced learning for SMART. We no longer have NetTrekker, it was lost with the State Budget. But there is another resource out there that allows teachers, students and parents to access and use educational materials. Thinkfinity.org

Interactives... Math, Science, History, Language Arts, and ART (cinema). Most interactive tools are Middle/High School. But, Elementary Teachers... there are some great resources in Math, Language Arts and a U.S. Map you might want to use!

Bookemon Free to write, illustrate and publish a book. However, it stays on the net and in order to get a hardcopy, you pay. Still, great idea. List of book ideas includes the typical (and recipe book as well!) family, trip, pictures and more.

http://mixedink.com/main.php is a free collaborative writing tool. Can the students get in? I don't know, but take a look! There are a couple of great topics to jump into... or start you own.

1. yoowalk.com -- this website allows you to walk through (browser) with an Avitar to check the news. Beware that memberships means others can comment to you and approach you as you walk through. Encourage students not to create accounts!

2. vuvox.com -- this site allows you to place pictures and creat hotspots and links over them. Ideal for placing a diagram and labeling the parts. As you pass over the hotspot -- the label appears. If you want students to follow for more info -- create a link to more resources. I can see students using this to create a labeled product (map, skeleton, periodic table, parts of sentence, math steps?).

In the spirit of collaboration, add new "highlight" resources/ideas on this page for everyone's attention! besides placing the link on the appropriate page for sharing!

Those with laptops might consider setting up a Skype account for communication among one-another throughout the day. Chat, file sharing and audio communication is free for any Skype to Skype calls. Just go to the Skype url and create your own account. If you use your school e-mail name you can be easily found by peers. You have the freedom to deny any Skype contact made by others

The file to the right is a Voki. Any brave souls want to insert their own in place of mine? Go create a Voki by going to Voki and play with putting together a character. You will need a microphone to record your message -- there is one on CFF teacher laptops, down on the left just below the Fn key. Ooops, I deleted my Voki!
